Whether or not you choose the Google-specific software, the program also asks you whether you want to install the YouTube scripts.

Again, you’re asked to provide your Google username and password to continue. This uses Google’s own speech recognition service. The installer also offers you the chance to install Google Voice Commands. You’re then prompted for your Google password. The installer asks you to enter your username. If you decide to install this, you need a Google account. In order to use this service, the Raspberry Pi needs to be connected to the internet, because it connects to Google’s servers to ‘translate’ the text into speech, and then plays an audio file with the Raspberry Pi’s media player. The following program is Google Text to Speech Service, which you may wish to install if you want the Raspberry Pi to read out the contents of text files. If you aren’t sure of these, press Return for now to choose the default options in each case. If you choose Y here, you’re asked to provide settings for host, port, username and password. You’re then asked if you want to install the Downloader program, which searches for and automatically downloads files from the internet for you. Sorry for those that sometimes read my post, but you should use the FMOD library (C / C++) witch does an amazing work when it comes to audio treatment and raspberry pi.If you have a mic with an audio jack, you may be able to use a small USB soundcard to make it work with the Raspberry Pi It's not so hard and it might be a good solution for you.

Why didn't you use software mixing ? You can have a program running that deals with all the audio output and handle the music mixing. This signal would never be heard, just control the audio detector. Is there anyway I can program to use the PWM outputs (or other GPIO) to control the audio detector (digital on-off is fine or 1khz tone, saw wave, whatever) whenever the RPi is generating audio on the 1/8" jack. BTW, I have used every single one of the 17 avail IO's for home control and alarm.
When the audio detect switches the relay, the muted (music) audio now touches the audio detector and keeps it active (thinking it is the RPi). I want the music to continue in the background with her (or doorbells) being significantly louder. I don't want a hard cut to Callie, then a bang back to music when the msg is done. To do this I built an audio detector (op amp based) driven by the RPi3 audio that controls a relay to switch between the music feed and the voice message. I routed music through my custom IO board so that the RPi3 can slightly mute the music while a doorbell or voice message is provided by the RPi3. The board I built also has an audio input for music to be distributed throughout the house (the main reason for the speakers really).
The door monitor will wait 2 hours after a door is opened to remind you it is open (like a garage door) and then continue to remind you every 30 minutes until closed (kids don't close doors).Īll system output is by voice spoken by the Cepstral Callie voice over speakers distributed throughout the entire house and rear deck / patio. There are about half a dozen audio controllers like Quiet Time (while sleeping) or Quiet Doors or Quiet Motion sensors. When an alarm goes off I get an email indicating what caused it and then I can access the CCTV system from anywhere in the world to check that point.Įach of those above have so many features it'd take a day to write about them.

It has the following attributes: front and rear doorbells, 2 alarm modes (home & away, set and deactivated by keypad) on 7 doors, 3 motion sensors and a CCTV motion detect input (output is red emerg strobe, siren and emails), stocks monitor, weather status update (parse website), weather alert monitor, internet integrity and speed monitor. I have built a home controller system around the RPi3 programmed with Node Red and a custom I/O board I built.
